Wecome to Andokides’ Porch. I've been on hiatus for awhile. I retired; I sold a house; with my partner, Bill, I bought a house. And there was Covid.
As for most of us, Covid largely ended any adventuring that involved travel. So, there's been much to share and little at the same time. We did, last summer, take a cruise to Alaska.
The overview of that trip is posted here. The photo albums will be posted soon. But I'm resuscitating my blog — for the moment, more essays than photos, but there's hope for photos to come. Since I last updated my site, there have been OS updates; my Web building software has changed versions; I've upgraded my computer; and I changed Web hosting services. Not everything from the last iteration of the site migrated smoothly. I'm in the process of doing major repairs, but I was initially inspired, almost exactly a year ago, to resurrect the site as my vehicle for letting many of you know that Bill and I had to say good-bye to Bill's dog,
Tyler. The page fourth down on the list (chronological order, most recent first) is a page that began, in the moment, just as a way to let one of my sisters and one of her daughters who had just recently visited and thus had met Tyler, of his death, but that simple announcement proved not to be so simple as I struggled with how to describe it, and it morphed into the essay/tribute/obituary/memory I've posted here.
